It’s the last week of school for my kids, and we are all very excited about Summer Break! If you’re like me, the more relaxed schedule during summer vacation (and kids being home all day) can wreak havoc on your workout routine. Here are some tips for staying active during the summer.
1. Be flexible.
Remember that it’s ok to take a break from your regular workout schedule and change things up! Summer is a GREAT time to do this. You’re likely taking more trips and doing more activities with your kids, so allow yourself some flexibility with your workouts.
2. Get outdoors.
The weather is nicer during the summer months, so look for ways to be active outdoors. Things like hiking, walking, biking, paddle boarding, swimming, and yard work can totally count as your movement for the day! Consider replacing some of your gym or indoor home workouts with outdoor activities, and involve the kids when you can!
3. Plan ahead.
If you’re going on vacation, pack some bands in your suitcase or schedule some time at the hotel gym each day. You can find a variety of band and body weight workouts on my Instagram feed, or better yet, subscribe to my virtual studio for on-demand workouts on your phone or laptop!
With a little planning and flexibility, you can easily stay healthy and active all summer long. The most important thing to do is enjoy your less structured time with your family and make daily movement habit. Find what works for you and keep at it!
